Has the Department of Defense always operated with this level of incompetence or have they just really let themselves go since the end of the Cold War? The Pentagon just came clean and announced that it accidentally shipped fuses for nuclear weapons to Taiwan in lieu of helicopter batteries. Not that this is really dangerous; obviously, you need a nuclear weapon before the fuse is any good to you. But it is a somewhat troubling lapse of professionalism, especially coming in the wake of the recent slip up that allowed an Air Force B-52 armed with nuclear cruise missiles to fly across the United States. I’m sure the Chinese reaction will be understanding…
